Soni Fort gone a bit necro?

According to reliable sources in the mages guild, the huge ominous cloud hanging over the soni fort is not infact a cloud but a huge necromantic aura. What has transpired in the fort has yet to be seen but whatever it is, it can't be good. Citizens are advised to stay well away from the fort...

New Konnish Embassy completed

Some days ago, construction work was completed on the new Konnish Embassy in Grimsburgh. The building generated alot of new trade via sea for the town as new building materials had to be brought in. Many local families are pleased with the work that the Ambassador has brought to Grimsburgh and many of these families are better off because of it. Local opinion suggests that the populous are happier because of their presence.

Fire destroys Hairy Dolphin

The favorite watering hole of many travelers and merchants along the Grimsburgh to Norham Road, the Hairy Dolphin, has been destroyed by fire in what appears to be another Dark Elf incursion.  Although the area is said to be relatively free of Dark Elves and Foulspawn, a group of them appeared late Tuesday evening and after barricading the doors, burnt the building to the ground.

There appears to be no motive for the attack and the tactics used seem strange for Dark Elves, but a full investigation is under way by the Grimsburgh Guild of Guards, with co-operation from there Norham counterparts.  Guardsman Fergal Binder is heading up the investigation.  The dead number a total of 25, of note were 3 Foresters and Retired Senior Physician of Grimsburgh, Herman Von Mites.  A fellow traveler who left the Tavern just hours before the attack met Herman and said the old Doctor was quite excited as he was going to meet a member of the School of Demonology for a meeting of national importance in that very Tavern.

Following this damning statement, Fergal will almost definitely be directing some of his questions towards the School of Demonology and an unnamed member of theirs that hails from Grimsburgh.  ‘Kinn’ of Grimsburgh will be singing a different tune soon said Guardsman Binder as he headed into Grimsburgh town itself. This fire comes just months since another group of Dark Elves burned the Schools own library down to the ground in Grimsburgh.

Good Bye Torell

Finally, the body of Torell Leafstar (apologies Kharachians) has been laid to rest. After a grueling treck across country, Reggie Kray laid the deceased elf to rest.
At his Ghosts request the adventurers had to promise to take down the Soni fort as a last favour to him.

Rest In Peace old friend.

Adventurers go mad!

On the 20th of Summereve, Anax Bardon, Strock McBeard, Guard Taggart and Kinvel Rogoff set out on what appeared to be the shortest adventure in Grimsburgh history. After 30 minuets, the group returned through the North Gate claiming they had got what they needed to get. According to Kin, they had gone on a trip to the necropolis and stranger still, they say they were there for well over 3 hours.

Personally this reporter thinks they are insane but who are we to judge

Grimsburgh Mages Guild Store house Burned to the Ground.

A long since closed warehouse containing personal items belonging to some of Grimsburghs most famous Mages burned to the ground today in what seems to be an act of random arson.  The building that used to house the School of Demonologies library, was converted into storage at about the same time that Schoolmaster Danthos, left the area on his ‘travels.’  Local Guardsman Fergal Binder said, “On 4th of Summereve, a warning was put out in the area of the old Mages buildings, outside the city walls as some Dark Elf type creatures had scared some of the locals away.  Within an hour of the warning going out, you could see the flames from the Grimsburgh Keep.  There’s little left but some charred timbers and a bit of blackened masonry.”

Gerschwin Von Geschultzmeyer, Head Librarian of the School of Demonology, in a statement said, that only old Mages personal effects and some sets of robes were lost, but would be sending some apprentices up there to sift through the rubble for clues.

A reward of 10/- is being offered by the School of Demonology for information leading to the capture, and subsequent incarceration of the arsonists.

Business is Booming

Thanks to the actions and brave work of the adventurers of Grimsburgh, the town is thriving. With the completion of the docks, trade has finally started up again. Residents will have noticed stonemasons working around the town, Woodsmen building foundations for new buildings, Blacksmiths smithing. All in all the town is looking a lot better than it did and we at The Herald would like to thank all adventurers for all the hard work they have done to make the town better.

Keep up the good work.

Murderer still at LARGE

Adventurers were hired today to do and retrieve a murderer who was being transported to Caistell. The party cam back empty handed but found that during the time of the "escape", there was a disturbance at the Wheelsby estate. What's going on there then?

Death insurance
Advert

Would you like to go to Kharack's halls when you die? Need to be sure you will get there? then take out an insurance policy with the Kray's today. Rates are competitive, no sales person will call and you can even choose a type of ceremony for you at your funeral. If you die on an adventure, you WILL be brought back for your said funeral. So don't hesitate to to speak to the Kray's. They know their stuff.

Red Masked Orcs take a beating

In an attempt to retrieve a package for Dibbler today, adventurers managed to batter down a fair number of Red Masked Orcs. It would also appear the Ronnie Kray ended up on his back again, only to be helped up again by the newcomer Captain Flasheart "Prince of pants" "Woof woof!!!". Despite the orcs confidence, they were butchered by the vast amounts of poison carried by Jay and Silent Bob. One party member said "They don't like it up em"

Call To Arms!

It was discovered today that a Dragon Ship has found it's way over to Grimsburgh. We have been very lucky recently, as the Dragon Ships have sailed right past us, but now it seems they want a piece of us. Adventurers from Grimsburgh engaged the invaders and managed to destroy a raiding party but were unable to see what state the village that they had landed at was in.
Andrid Mannerly has requested a Call To Arms to the peoples of Grimsburgh to fight for the greater good and repel these invaders.
We at the Herald wonder if the invaders will be able to last long here with the Masters Forces hanging around. What will happen when they head further south in to Wheelsby's lands?

Bad day for the Pathfinder

In a SHOCKING turn of events, Pathfinder Amos Armstrong was today arrested on the suspicion of MURDER!!!!!!!!! This comes as after a masterful attempt by someone to stab him up.
Amos had just returned in to town with the party when a guard stabbed him with a vicious looking weapon, only to be helped out by a spell caster in the tree line. The would be assailant was dressed as a guard and promptly legged it when the party realized what was going on.
Soon after this attack, Amos was dragged from the Grain Boat (pint in hand) in connection with the murder of the town councilors (we at the Herald worked that out for our selves :) honest, no really ). We will have to wait and see what comes of this.

In other news

Here are some of the reports from the adventuring community:

Cleeby is no more

It was discovered today that the town of Cleeby is no more than a ruined hovel. Villagers were found scattered throughout the ruins in fear. Their attempt at reaching Grimsburgh in the boat that was commissioned failed due to terrible weather. The Good ship Grimsburgh along with 30 other ships in the fleet are presumed to have been destroyed. The meeting place for the survivors (incase anything went wrong) was the Bull fort. The remaining inhabitants of Cleeby are presumed dead or are held up in the fort.
In other related stories, The adventurers stapled a ghoul to the floor with wooden stakes, only to find that it broke free and followed them to Cleeby. Stranger still, it couldn't enter the deserted village.
A demon also attacked the party but was slain by Kin Rogoff (18) with nothing but a dagger. well done that man.

Kin Rogoff is a puff exclaims Black clad, mask wearing anonymous man

The proof is in the pudding

Terror grips council

Grimsburgh town council members are griped with fear this morning as 3 town officials were found, hung together on the dockside. The area in which they were hung was around the restoration going on in the dock itself.

What seems a little odd about this is that each was found with an object missing or placed in their mouth.

Jeremia Hudson (20) Clark for the council was found with a Bred bun in his moth

Joana Wiggleforth (25) Town official was found without a toung

Ian Matthews (24) Council Treasurer was found with a fish in his mouth.

The night watch is baffled at the horrific situation. The only other evidence at the scene was a few strands of fur caught in the ropes and some dark brown marks left on the victims clothing.
The bodies have been taken down and brought the physicians guild house in Enchantry lane to Silent Bob for examination where Silent Bob said:
“--------“
So what could this mean? Was it just a drunken council prank? A lynch mob?  Are more council members going to be killed in a similar fashion?
The Guild of Guards and Foresters are looking in to the matter, determined to find the hands responsible and bash their bones out.
A funeral service will be held later in the week for the late council members and all of Grimsburgh is invited to attend.

Triumph!! / Ithron's Oldest man

Research started in (to be confirmed) Was retrieved today by Anax Bardon and various other members of the adventuring community. This mission was heading in to the Masters lands and upon encountering some of the masters forces, Kinvel Rogoff and Amon Sul started dismissing them. Much to Kin's surprise, the dismisses worked. Not only that but it returned the Demons body to the original form. The "boy" (now 80-90!!!!!!) could not recall anything from the previous year apart from his 16th birthday.

On a separate note, an Abraxian shrine was found. It would appear that Grimsburgh is a heratic magnet.

Ooops they did it again.

Would you believe the adventuring community has once again messed up? Well believe it. Due to the incompetence of a certain scout from out of town, the party ended going in completely the opposite direction. They were supposed to get a damage report from Shards colony but instead ended up meeting Nathaniel (who as a side note, appeared to look like Kinvel Rogoff. When kin heard the news he was not pleased). He informed them he was not happy with the help they gave to Shards colony and warned them off any further assistance in the future.
Nathaniel seems to think that Shards colony is a blight on the map and that they are a disgrace to all orcs, ogres and goblinoids everywhere. Grimsburgh's inhabitants would beg to differ.

King gets his sword back

At the local gathering in Humberton, the Kings sword was recovered from the hands of some mummy thing. After much religious power was used to lay the mummy and its various body parts to rest, the Massage Mansion gained a new feature. That of the "Ghoul room". This room is filled with (as one by stander said) "Some" Ghouls. Here you can try your luck (praise be to Tralda) at taking them down, or you can throw them a tasty morsel and watch in the "Ghoul Wrestling".

Adventurers end up in Sharda

Adventurers end up in sharda at the recent gathering in Humberton. If you have any more information, head down to the Heralds offices and spill the..... what ever it is you spill.

NEWS JUST IN

The Grimsburgh harbor is to be cleared of all boat wreckage for new fishing and trade opportunities. The harbor has had ships scuttled there since the invasion by the Storveggans.
Finally money has been put forward to clear the wreckage by members of the adventuring community who have approached a local salvage firm to perform the mammoth task and is going to take some time.....

This also opens an opportunity to make Grimsburgh a staging point for the up and coming invasion to Limanussia. Perhaps Dibbler will start pushing his line of anti Limanussian armour ® to the passing warriors [guaranteed to keep those Limanussians away (no refunds, all deals are final)]

on a separate note, a letter was discovered from the inhabitants of Cleeby who are trying to venture to Grimsburgh. as of yet, there is no sign of them. have they perished? or simply lost?

Edition 8

Today is a good day to die

A group of adventurers on the way to collect orders from Manfred, one of  Lord Caistell's  men, today found themselves in the middle of a war between Shard and the entire contingent of red masked orcs from the Soni Fort. Shard was lucky they came along as they helped in the attack, saving the lives of many of Shards men; although nearly being killed themselves by Demons. After taking this little ‘detour’ they managed to reach a rather irritable Manfred and deliver the orders in one piece… just.

I was able to catch up with the adventurers upon their return for and exclusive interview. Here is how it went

William: So sirs, can you tell me how you came upon this attack

Reggie: We met some of Shards men hiding in a bush and they informed us of the situation. Well we had two choices, take the easy way around to collect the orders or go and help Shards colony. we chose the latter. It seemed today was a good day to die.

Anax: But that was not meant to be. We quickly got in to the fighting, slaying countless Red masked orcs with the help of Ronnie and Kin's magic. There was one point where it got a little worrying.

William: how so?

Orin: Erm...well there were these big green things that jumped out at us and nothing could hurt them.

Kin: I think I can explain this better. Shard was fighting off some Red masked orcs so we ran in to help. Unfortunately we were then ambushed by demons. One jumped out of the undergrowth at me and I was taken out of the fight.

Anax: We beat them off though and being the only one left standing, I had to pick up the pieces.

Kin: and now if you will excuse us, we have a report to hand in to the council and some creatures to find out about.

A letter was sent before dusk from Shards colony stating that all was well and the demon things had not been seen near the colony again. Casualties are reported to be very high. Other reports are coming in from local inhabitants about strange creatures moving around in the woods near their farms and people are getting worried.

A number of Guards and other officials are angry at the lost opportunity to take back the fort that has been in the hands of the red masked orcs for some time now. on the other hand if the adventurers hadn't intervened, shards colony may have been lost.

A special mention should go out to local adventurer Anax Bardon who managed to slay at least twenty five of the foulspawn alone, as well as saving the party after the Demon attack. 10 crowns well earned all round.

Reporter: William De Worde

Torell's return

Today, the ghost of Torell Leafstar was found wandeing around the area around Grimsburgh in search of his body. Upon persuading the party to follow him, his body was dicovered along with the corpses of many other creatures, all with parts of their bodies removed. Unfortunately they couldn't be laid to rest but their whereabouts have been noted so that they can be at a later date.

Edition 7

Success at last!

It was discovered today by this reporter that a commando group of adventurers went to a small camp called Rilk and successfully managed to complete their mission. They succeeded in killing off some foulspawn and retrieving part of a letter. It's contents is still unknown because the other half is being kept by another member of the adventuring community.

It goes to show, dangerous missions can be accomplished by adventurers of Grimsburgh

Rumors of war?

It seems the people have the on-up on the Herald offices as they all seem to think Ithron is going to war. There has also been signs of King's men being killed on the highways and byways around Grimsburgh. Several bodies were found mutilated but all bearing the kings colours. If we ARE going to war, we don't really know anything deffinate.

Edition 6

An old friend returns

CMOT Dibbler was seen today heading to his warehouse in Grimsburgh. He returned from Caistell (Via Killinghome)  from the winter market. Looks like trade could be picking up again.

Strange goings on

An adventuring party today, final managed to get in to the Soni wood (after the last attempt where 3 adventurers died). Apparently, the foulspawn there have tapped in to the underground springs there and created a huge smelting pit. They could be making weapons but where are they getting ore from?

Edition 5

Dark alliance

Today a party was hired to find some explanation to the recent peasant mutilations. After some time the party came across a Krygan shrine. Hank, a visitor to the area, tried to destroy the shrine by throwing a flask of oil on to it but his attempts ended in and evil looking fireball looking at him, laughing and returning to the shrine. It was still standing. The party moved on, fighting through dark elves and the masters demons. Finally they meet Kachra the Krygonite high father. Just as the party were going to deliver the final blow, the Master turns up and prevents him from dying. The adventurers knew when to quit and this was the time. These two people were left to their conversation.

On a side note, Dark elves haven't been seen in Grimsburgh since the death of High Father Kazadeer and before that there weren't any around for very a long time.

This Alliance could indeed spell disaster for Grimsburgh.

Edition 4

New kid in town

Banditry is increasing in the area surrounding Grimsburgh. This could be due to the new foulspawn threat lead by an orc named Dagert. On a mission to recover some stolen property (a bottle of wine taken from High mother Jordan of Tralda), the adventuring group were unable to stop Dagert escaping with the wine. It seemed to the adventurers that he was a little unsure of himself and possibly not the sharpest spoon in the drawer.

Edition 3

Adventurers foul up

Apparently today, an adventuring party went to Shards colony to ask for help in an attack on the Soni fort but inadvertently tolled the Red Masked orcs (the local bad guys of the area) of the plan. Apparently this problem was rectified but only time will tell.

Ronnie Kray, Coward????

Today, a group of adventurers were hired to go and investigate the manor of the late Lord Wheelsby. According to eye whiteness accounts, the party came across the late Lord and at the sight of him, he (Ronnie) fled the scene only to walk out of a bush near the gates of Grimsburgh claiming he had no recollection of the days events. According to a Mr Mugwart he said the Mr Kray was "a bit of a wuss". Then again it is pretty amazing that the late and beloved lord appeared to them.

What every Master wants

At the latest War Council meeting held in the Grimsburgh Town Hall, Adventurers pondered over why the Master has come to Grimsburgh. Upon previous encounters with the master he has asked for certain things. These included 1) Getting killed, 2) going home and 3) he has decided to set up shop in Grimsburgh. But what does he want? In the view of this reporter, there isn't much left of Grimsburgh so what could he possibly want????

Good Ship Grimsburgh

This reporter has discovered that the Grimsburgh Council (lord Caistell's) paid for a boat to be built. I'm not too sure on the details but apparently, since it's completion it hasn't been seen. It should be moored in Cleeby but as that area is under the control of Lord Wheelsby, it's anyone's guess what has happened to it. Perhaps new trade could be brought in by it. Who knows.

There was also a related story involving an adventurer by the name of Jay but the Editor wouldn't let me put it in.

1st edition

Adventurers meeting

Tonight in Grimsburgh, members of the adventuring community gathered at the town hall to meet with representatives of the council  to discus events and try to resolve some of the situations that have arisen in the past few years. This reporter was unable to get in to the hall to hear any of the meeting but he was able to get an interview with a Mr. Rogoff. Mr. Rogoff said "We have discussed many problems that Grimsburgh has and decided on a course of action. Of course I can't give too much away as the wrong sort of people could get hold our information and could ruin our chances." We the public will have to wait and see if their planning will pay off or just be a waste of time.

Kainel in drinking SHOCKER!

It was discovered that at a recent meeting at the Grimsburgh town hall that he had spent the night drinking heavily. He said "I have been up all night drinking" and in the opinion of this reporter it is indeed shocking.
